I was feeling stuck, mostly on the inner.
I was having a difficult time making decisions (big and small).
I was ready to release a very challenging relationship.
I was tired of hearing myself complain about the same things.
Can you relate to any of this?
And, when I booked in for a trim with my hairdresser I had no idea this would happen…
In my latest podcast, I talk about the alchemy of a “spiritual haircut.” 😉
It’s not really about haircuts at all but about:
Attachment: to the way we look, our identity, who we think we are.
Fear: making decisions out of fear of what others may think. Staying stuck because that’s what’s expected of us.
Transformation: the bottom line is we have to do something differently to get a different result. Sounds simple but what are you choosing day-to-day?
The unknown: taking a leap without knowing what the end result will be. Ack. So uncomfortable.
Have a listen to my latest Be The Light Podcast where I open up about my vulnerabilities around my existential hair cut dilemma. I have a sense that you’ll be able to relate to a lot of this. I’d love to hear your thoughts below.
Be the light,
Melanie

Good for you Melanie! Thanks for sharing your experience! ????
Thanks Christina. You are so welcome!
Love & light,
Melanie
This was wonderful to listen to Melanie!
I totally can relate to the hair thing! In my 20’s I spent so much time on my hair curling it and making it beautiful, I almost felt, if my hair wasn’t perfect, I wasn’t ready to leave the house!! Thank goodness I grew out of this thinking eventually and I don’t spend as much time on my hair! I am one of the ladies who are envious of you (for being brave enough to shave your head) It must be liberating. It is not because I am worried about what my husband would think, it is because of what I would say to myself when I look into the mirror and see my reflexion.
Anyway, I love your look and your attitude. I wish you love and happiness in your journey 🙂
Thanks for your loving support, Sharon.
Blessings,
Melanie
Amen sister! And lord how your words resonate with me :}. Most women have been culturally conditioned to believe that long hair is more attractive. But, more and more women are looking at their hair as an accessory; versatile, useful, and attractive to the wearer. Interestingly however, some people’s perception of me changes with my hair length..
Hey Stacie!
How beautiful that my words resonated with you. I hear you, that your experience is that some people’s perception of you changes with your hair length. And I agree we have been conditioned in so many ways to regarding beauty, what is beautiful, and who/ what we should be trying to appeal to. How empowering when we step into that definition for ourselves.
Much love and light to you,
Melanie
I’m listening to this before a haircut appointment. The plan is to cut off more than 2 feet of hair but I still don’t know for sure how I’m getting it cut. Really trying to lean into that unknown.
A good listen, made me question some of my decision making and motivations behind how I decide to present myself.
How perfect!I so support you to lean into the unknown and be with the subtle aspects of this decision. How wonderful! Oh and, the good thing is…hair grows back. The change will live within you once you take the leap. All the best! m
Thank you for sharing the beautiful message that spirituality can be experienced in the most mundane things! During my own spiritual journey, time and again, I get confused about how to incorporate traditional spiritual concepts into my own daily life and listening to your podcasts help me understand the nuances much more clearly!
In fact, I was quite confused about should I or should I not continue shaving my legs….Whether focusing one’s energy on temporary, external appearances be considered egotistical….But listening to this podcast of yours have given me clarity on this. That there is no right or wrong approach as long as it is aligned with one’s true self and one’s own personal calling. ?
You’re welcome. I believe our spirituality is not separate from the mundane, in fact it’s important to not think it’s anything other than the moment to moment. Yes, there is no right or wrong approach. Look inside and see where the motivation comes from. Is it fear or love? Lack or abundance? Keep following your inner guidance. Blessings. m
