This resonated with me. My neck sounds like there is gravel in and around it. Also my hips, knees and fingers crack. I like the idea of massaging with the oil, does it have to be sesame or could it be coconut oil.
Hi Darlene! Great question. The various oils all have different qualities and properties. The sesame oil is best for vata as it is nourishing (heavy) and warming-the opposite of vata’s light and cold qualities. Coconut oil is more cooling so very good for pitta. Hope this helps! 🙂
Hi, I am observing a cracking sound in my left knee for the last one month. There is no pain. I have started to apply ghee (clarified butter) from today. Will that be helpful?
Should I be warming u the ghee before applying? Or should I switch to sesame seed oil only or anything else? Kindly advise.
Hello, I can’t offer you a definite answer as I would need more information. However, yes always warm the oil before applying as cracking joints are indicative of elevated vata (which is cold so we need heat to counter). My favourite balm for cracking joints is Banyan Botanicals ‘Joint Balm’. Many blessings.
Hello,
I’m having mild cracking sound in my left knee. When I do asana with folded legs (malasana, vajrasana) after that there is mild pain in quad muscle. Next day it fades away. Please advise.
Hi Sarika, I would suggest you have a professional take a look in person so that you can explain your health history and all of the details. All the best to you! Many blessings.
Just wanted to say thank you very much for generously sharing your knowledge. I will be following this advice and looking at your other content as well.
